I am totally embarrassed by the ridiculous amount of money we spend on food. There was even a two week period during which my husband and I actually spent $1,000 on nothing but food. That is criminal. We are both also fighting the battle of the bulge. So our love of food is effecting our wallets and our waist lines. The guilty culprit of both our challenges is of course our love of dining out. Matt and I are different in many ways but we both adore eating. So this blog will seek to scrimp on the money and the fat but never on the joy of food.
We have already cut back to eating out only once a week and spending only $150 a week on groceries but we want to cut further.
There are several reasons we want to cut back to just $100 a week.
1. Singapore!
Matt and I love to travel. We have saved up points on our Visa Credit card and now have enough points for a free 4 night cruise in South East Asia. Now we just need to pay for plane tickets, hostels for extra nights and $$ for you guessed it, food.
2. Promotion materials.
I am trying to get published as an author illustrator. In the beginning this means spending money on mailings, printing, and attending conferences. None of these are especially cheep. If I don't start making money soon, the IRS is going to declare my illustration a hobby and no longer allow me to write off my expenses. EEeeeeep!
3. Debt.
Yep just like most Americans we have debt. Not an out of control amount but still we would like it to be less. We have car debt, student loan debt, and yes a little credit card debt.
